Songs of Freedom

Songs of Freedom is a retro rogue-lite where you play as a small bird escaping prison. To accomplish this task, you have your voice as a weapon! By exploring the prison, you'll find old songs from forgotten prisoners. Every song has a color associated with it; by matching your opponent's color, you'll be able to stun them. Your goal is to reach the 13th level of the prison and escape.

This game was made in the context of a semester-long game jam, although it was mostly made in the last two weeks of the game. The game was developed using the Pico-8 virtual console. To navigate the dungeon, you use the arrow keys. You can pick up items by going over them or opening chests.  To open the use menu, press C on your keyboard to open the context menu for all your spells and equipment.

I hope everyone enjoys it. Be mindful that the game has a lot of bugs, and I'll not be patching them (at least for now). Keep the discussion healthy!
